Internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars will perform for one night only tonight 26 October in QPAC's Concert Hall, promising a vocal experience that is not-to-be-missed.

Under Director Peter Phillips, The Tallis Scholars' vocal purity and clarity is perfectly suited to Renaissance repertoire, allowing every detail of the musical lines to be heard. It is this resulting beauty of sound for which The Tallis Scholars have become so widely renowned and has recently earned them a place in Gramophone Magazine's 2013 Hall of Fame list.

Heralded by The New York Times as the "rock stars of Renaissance vocal music", The Tallis Scholars commenced their 40th anniversary world tour in March this year with a stunning concert in St Paul's Cathedral, London. Queensland audiences will be the first in Australia to experience this award-winning vocal ensemble during their national tour.

This 40th anniversary tour program includes some of the most significant pieces of Renaissance music with which The Tallis Scholars have been associated over the years. From Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli, the first piece ever to be recorded by the group, in the Chapel of Merton College Oxford in 1976, and Allegri's well known Miserere, which the group has recorded three times, to the stunning sacred music of Arvo Pärt, this concert program showcases all the music that has formed the backbone of the more than 1750 concerts by The Tallis Scholars worldwide since 1973.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said QPAC looks forward to welcoming The Tallis Scholars, one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world, this October.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome the group as they celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2013. The Tallis Scholars are the world's leading exponents of Renaissance sacred music and are internationally renowned for their recordings of the exquisite Allegri Miserere," said Mr Kotzas.
