Velma V. Morrison Center Installs New LED Digital Display

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts announced the installation of a NanoLumens large-format, 4mm LED digital display for its lobby. The new display is six feet tall by eleven feet wide and will complement the existing lobby decor, while adding a subtle, yet modern, technological design element. It will be used to display Center information in a dynamic and flexible way prior to shows, during intermission and as patrons exit. Content may include upcoming show promotions, artist video content, campus-wide University events, student and faculty visual art, images of Boise's picturesque landscape and other important show related information. It will also display the current date and time to help ensure that patrons take their seats prior to show time. A high definition camera in the theatre will provide a closed-circuit, live feed of the show to artists backstage and to the lobby display so that patrons arriving after curtain time can watch the show until they are allowed to enter the theatre auditorium.

Time Out NY called Distracted a 'My favorite comedy of the year!' The play examines the perplexing and emotional journey of two parents hoping to make the best treatment decision of treatment for their son's Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). Distracted, which premiered in Los Angeles in 2007 and made its Off-Broadway debut in 2010, is a sharp, chaotically entertaining riff on the challenges of parenting in the modern age.

This completes the 7th season of the Family Reading Series. With bits of costumes, sound effects and music, characters from great works of fiction and drama come alive in theatre of the imagination where you become a part of the story.

CYT-North Idaho's Alice, from their upcoming winter musical, Alice the Musical, will be reading to children and performing at the Hayden Library, the Coeur d'Alene Library, and the Liberty Lake Library on February 13. Alice will read from 'Alice in Wonderland' at 10:30 a.m. in Hayden; 1 p.m. in Coeur d'Alene and 4 p.m. in Liberty Lake. Alice will also be available for pictures.

The tour of the smash hit Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY is coming to Boise. WEST SIDE STORY will open at the Morrison Center on March 25, 2013 for four performances. Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction is recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Tony Award-nominee Joey McKneely (The Boy from Oz, The Life).
