CYT-North Idaho's BYE BYE BIRDIE Opens Today

CCT-North Idaho, part of the CYT-North Idaho organization is bringing the Broadway American Classic Musical, Bye Bye Birdie to the S.A. Kroc Theater, today, July 19-28. CYT-North Idaho known for its after-school theater arts training program and quality family entertainment added their first Christian Community Theater or CCT show last year. They are thrilled to once again add a summer show to their season.

Since bursting onto the scene in 1997 with the jazzy 'Sympathique' (beloved for its slacker-anthem lyrics 'Je ne veux pas travailler'), Portland ensemble Pink Martini has made its mark with an upbeat multilingual repertoire of pop, classical, jazz and big band. Fronted by pianist Thomas Lauderdale, the band has performed with more than 50 orchestras, and collaborated with a wild array of artists, from Rufus Wainwright, Carol Channing and Chavela Vargas to Japanese icon Saori Yuki, filmmaker Gus Van Sant and the cast of SESAME STREET. Singer Storm Large will be performing in Boise.

Hidden secrets are unearthed and family tensions fly high in Pulitzer Prize nominee Jon Robin Baitz's contemporary family drama Other Desert Cities, hailed by the New York Times as 'the best new play on Broadway' in 2011. Richmond Theatre Critics Circle award winner and Company of Fools' founder RusTy Wilson returns to direct the Idaho premiere of the show with a standout cast that features Keith Moore, Denise Simone and Patsy Wygle and guest actors Hanna Cheek and Adrian Rieder. Boise State Arts Supporter Velma Morrison Passes Away at 92

Longtime Boise State supporter and patron of the arts Velma Morrison passed away on June 20 at the age of 92. Her invaluable and long-lasting contribution to Boise State University will forever be embodied in the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts on the north edge of campus. Morrison was a close partner with the university in developing and supporting the state-of-the-art venue.
