Rep Stage To Produce World Premiere Of THINGS THAT ARE ROUND Rep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 26th season with the world premiere of "Things That Are Round," written by Callie Kimball and directed by Lola B. Pierson. Tetherly, a dentist specializing in existential terror, and Nina, an aspiring opera singer who just might be the worst babysitter ever, square off in a strange ballet of truth or dare. But is this a game anyone can even win? In Kimball's dark comedy, a la Thelma and Louise meets George and Martha on steroids, "Things That Are Round" upends stereotypes and subverts traditional tropes of love stories, psychological thrillers, and the 'living room drama,' while exploring the lengths we will go for human connection.

Callie Kimball earned her MFA under Tina Howe at Hunter College, where she won the Rita & Burton Goldberg Playwriting Award two years in a row. Her plays have been produced and developed in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, DC, at such varied theatres as the Kennedy Center, Portland Stage Company, Lark Play Development Center, Halcyon Theatre, Project Y Theatre, Washington Shakespeare Company, Everyman Repertory Theatre, The Drama League, as well as at many colleges and festivals across the country. She is an affiliate artist at Portland Stage Company, an affiliate writer at the Playwrights' Center, playwright-in-residence at Theater at Monmouth, and a former MacDowell Fellow. "Things That Are Round" has had workshops at The Lark Play Development Center in New York City, Vassar College, Stoneham Theatre, and Portland Stage Company.

"Things That Are Round" opens November 1, 2018, with a limited run through November 18 in the Studio Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, Maryland. There will be post-show discussions on November 4 and 16. Rep Stage will also hold a pre-show lecture prior to the 2 p.m. performance on November 17.

Tickets are $40 for general admission, $35 for seniors and the military, and $15 for students with a current ID. Thursdays are $10 performances. For tickets and additional information, visit www.repstage.org or call the box office at 443-518-1500.
