Student Blogger: Carissa Ferguson

Carissa Ferguson is currently located in Tuscaloosa, AL finishing up her BFA in Musical Theatre at The University of Alabama with an expected graduation of May 2024. She is a classically trained soprano with strong cross-training in pop/rock, contemporary musical theatre, and country styles. Carissa considers herself a well-rounded performer and natural born leader who is willing to try new things, work hard, and constantly ask, “how can I help?”

Aside from performing, Carissa has a strong passion for media creation and has owned her own business as a professional voice-over artist, singer, and ugc creator through the Fiverr platform since she was 16 years old. She also has a passion for writing and teaching and is pursuing an English minor to further those interests. 

In her free time, Carissa can be found chatting on the phone with her mom, serving UA as Alpha Psi Omega’s President, doing hot yoga, reading dystopian fiction,  or binge watching Friends, Gilmore Girls, and Suits.

One habit I've picked up during my time as a BFA Musical Theatre student is meal prepping. I know... eye roll. I'm sure to the non-meal-prepper; this whole blog might sound like the nagging mom who cries, 'Make sure you eat the carrots and broccoli I packed!' as she drops her son off at elementary school. But as an emerging artist, I've slowly realized how much the theatre industry prioritizes work over the value of a healthy human.
