Chicago Sinfonietta continues its milestone 25th Anniversary Season with its Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebrating the universal lessons of Dr. King with music from the American South to the African plains. Before 2013's special guest - Grammy Award®-winning bass-baritone Eric Owens - takes the stage as a vocalist, he will first pick up the baton to make his debut as conductor. Led for a second year by Sinfonietta Music Director Mei-Ann Chen, the annual MLK concert has been a cherished Sinfonietta tradition since its founding in 1987 by Dr. Paul Freeman. The 2013 Annual Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is presented at Wentz Concert Hall of North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Avenue in Naperville, Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. and at Orchestra Hall of Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago, Monday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. (the official MLK holiday). The Sinfonietta is proud to have Fifth Third Bank as the Lead Sponsor of this concert.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), recipient of the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award®, announces the extension of the Shakespearean classic A Midsummer Night's Dream. This fantastical production by director Ethan McSweeny, which celebrates the magic of theatre itself, will now play through Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW).

The National Theatre of the Deaf takes a nostalgic journey back into time through the eyes of poet Dylan Thomas. Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical ROCK OF AGES have announced that Joey Calveri, who currently plays the ensemble role of Joey Primo, will step into the spotlight as wild rock idol Stacee Jaxx beginning Monday, December 17 at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre (240 W 44th Street). Andrew Call (American Idiot) will join the company as Joey Primo on December 17. Original Broadway Cast member Jeremy Woodard, who originated the role of Joey Primo off & on Broadway and has performed the role of Stacee Jaxx since September 2011, will play his final performance on Sunday, December 16.

Comedic star Alonzo Bodden has entertained crowds worldwide with his hilarious stand-up routine. This February, Bodden will take his international touring act to the Comix stage for four shows starting Thursday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m., with additional performances Friday, Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for advance general admission ($30 day of show) and $40 for advance VIP admission ($50 day of show). On November 6, Musical America Worldwide announced that it would name Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel "Musician of the Year" and the founder of "El Sistema," Jose Antonio Abreu, "Educator of the Year" for 2013. This summer, BroadwayWorld reported on KENNEDY, based on the life of the 35th president, which was preparing for workshops in anticipation of a Broadway opening. The musical, a heavily reworked version of ONE SHINING MOMENT, is still aiming for Broadway, perhaps as early as next fall.
