Culture Project's Women Center Stage presents the Off-Broadway premiere of the acclaimed Shaheed: The Dream and Death of Benazir Bhutto written and performed by Anna Khaja and directed by Heather de Michele. Performances begin this Friday, March 8, 2013 at Culture Project at 45 Bleecker Street (at Lafayette Street).

Twenty-three students from the 71 semi-finalists that competed last weekend have advanced to the State Finals of the national Poetry Out Loud (POL) spoken word competition, to be held this Sunday, March 10. The competition will begin at 9:30am at the Old South Meeting House (301 Washington Street, Boston), site of the historic meeting of colonists that led to the Boston Tea Party and a continued haven of free speech today. The competition is free and open to the public.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that the NYTW production of the New York premiere of Belleville, written by Amy Herzog and directed by Anne Kauffman, will extend for two weeks through Sunday, April 14, following rave reviews and sold-out houses. Belleville (originally scheduled to close March 31) plays at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue.

After an intense semi-final round of competition, the Metropolitan Opera today announced the names of ten finalists who will sing on the Met stage in the 2013 National Council Auditions Grand Finals Concert on Sunday, March 10 at 3:00 p.m., with the MET Orchestra conducted by Marco Armiliato. The auditions, which are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, have been an important stepping stone in the career of many of the opera world's leading artists. 20 gifted young singers from around the country arrived in New York on Thursday afternoon to prepare for today's semi-final round, in which they sang on the Met stage for the first time in their careers before a panel of judges. After deliberations, the panel has narrowed the field to ten singers who will move to the final phase of the competition.

The Elks Theatre will present Grease 'Sing Along Edition' starring none other than goody two-shoes Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) and bad boy greaser Danny (John Travolta) as they sing, dance, and fall in love all over again in this toe-tapping adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. For this special screening audiences are encouraged to grab their friends, dress up, and do what they have always wanted to do: Sing Along. Grease will screen all-weekend March 8th thru 10th and will coincide with the Middletown Area High School's and Elizabethtown High School's stage adaptation being performed the previous weekend. A special discount will be provided for students who attend the screenings with school IDs.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, has named Nan Barnett as the new Executive Director.

The West Coast premiere of "Tribes" opens Sunday, March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum. The Barrow Street Theatre production of Nina Raine's penetrating new comic drama about belonging, family and the value of communication continues through April 14, 2013. (Preview performances began on February 27.)

The beloved children's classic and highly-revered ballet, "Cinderella," is given a whole new, whimsical look with life-size puppets helping to tell the famous tale set to Serge Prokofiev's timeless music for Pacific Symphony's next Family Musical Mornings concert, presented by Farmers &Merchants Bank.

Following Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic's successful world premiere of LA Phil Creative Chair John Adams' The Gospel According to the Other Mary last season, they present the oratorio in a theatrical setting at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8, at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, March 10, at 2 pm. Once again the Los Angeles Master Chorale and six soloists: mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor, contralto Tamara Mumford, tenor Russell Thomas and countertenors Daniel Bubeck, Brian Cummings and Nathan Medley, return for Adams' large-scale LA Phil-commissioned work. The production also features dancers Michael Schumacher, Anani Sanouvi and Troy Ogilvie. Iconoclastic director Peter Sellars oversees the world premiere staging of the work. The project will then be taken on tour with its European premiere during the orchestra's international residency at the Barbican London, and continuing performances in Lucerne and Paris, followed by the East Coast premiere at Avery Fisher Hall in New York.

Shakespeare Festival St. Louis has selected the Grove neighborhood as the host of its second annual, wildly popular, Shakespeare in the Streets event, set for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 20-22. The event will feature local Grove residents and community leaders performing alongside professional actors in a new play artfully adapted from one of William Shakespeare's plays.

CAT ON MY HEAD PRODUCTIONS has announced the world premiere production of Tom Kelly's BLEACHED BLONDE BETTY, with original music by the award-winning Allison Leyton-Brown and directed by Dan Patrick Brady. BLEACHED BLONDE BETTY play a limited engagement at the Workshop Theater (316 West 35th Street, 4th Fl.). Performances begin Thursday, March 14 and continue until Sunday, March 24. An exhibition of the work of artist Danh Vo (b. 1975, Ba Ria, Vietnam), winner of the Hugo Boss Prize 2012, will be on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, March 15-May 27, 2013. Vo, whose work illuminates the entwined strands of private experience and collective history that shape our sense of self, is the ninth artist to win the prestigious biennial award, established in 1996 by HUGO BOSS and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.

Renaissance Theaterworks (RTW) wraps up its 20th season with THE ROAD TO MECCA by Athol Fugard. Due to popular demand, The Flea Theater has announced that Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut THE VANDAL will return for a limited 2 weekend run beginning March 22. Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording of Fancy Nancy The Musical. The acclaimed children's show is currently running at Vital Theatre Company, New York's leading not-for-profit family theatre. The album will have a digital release of March 12 with physical copies online and in stores on April 23. The show features music by Danny Abosch, book by Susan DiLallo and lyrics by both. The musical is based on the book series written by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser.

The Cohen New Works Festival presented by the University Co-op is proud to announce programming for the 2013 Festival, March 25 - 29.
