The 5th Avenue Theatre is thrilled to announce the cast for its glorious new production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man, a loving valentine to musical theater. AMERICAN IDIOT will make its Philadelphia premiere Feb. 12 - 17 at the Merriam Theater as part of the Broadway Season, presented by The Kimmel Center and The Shubert Organization. The press opening is scheduled for Tues. Feb. 12 at 7:30 pm.

The Eccles Center is poised to launch an adventure in entertainment with a second - and new - installation of The Intergalactic Nemesis. For the uninitiated, this unique, "live-action graphic novel" blends comic book-style drawings (projected onto a giant screen), actors performing radio drama on stage, music, kapow-like sound effects and utter escapism. Book Two: Robot Planet Rising takes audiences into stellar and unchartered terrain on Saturday, February 16. Show is recommended for all ages (including children ages 7 and older). The journey begins at 7: 30 p.m.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has announced several new collaborations supported by a grant from ArtsWave. Awarded in June 2012, CCM's $50,000 ArtsWave Community Partnership grant was designed to develop mutually beneficial projects that will advance both organizations' goals for the community and the arts sector.

In December 2012, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York awarded a $185K playwright residency grant to support a new full-time position at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company for playwright/director and Woolly Company Member Robert O'Hara, through December 31, 2015.

Melbourne Theatre Company congratulates Jacki Weaver on today's Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Silver Linings Playbook. Melbourne audiences will be in for a treat when Australia welcomes Jacki Weaver back in June for her only stage appearance in 2013 for MTC's Solomon and Marion.

At East Lynne Theater Company's annual fundraising event in November at Aleathea's Restaurant, Gabrielle Wilson was named the sixth recipient of the Historic Jackson Street Neighborhood Association Scholarship Fund (HJSNA) in the Name of Bob and Toni Green. This fund was started in the fall of 2006 with a generous $5,000.00 donation from HJSNA, in honor of the Greens, who first owned The Puffin on Jackson Street. Bob Green was at one time President of ELTC's Board, and Toni came up with the idea for ELTC's 'Tales of the Victorians.' They currently live in Kentucky.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) will present its Songwriter Spotlight concert at 54 Below on February 11 at 9:30pm. The concert will highlight three songwriting teams who have been part of NAMT's Festival of New Musicals: Sara Cooper & Zachary Redler (The Memory Show, to be seen Off Broadway this spring at Transport Group), Michael Weiner & Alan Zachary (the Broadway-bound First Dateand Secondhand Lions) and host Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party and Big Fish). The writers, joined by Broadway talents, will sing songs from their Festival shows and upcoming projects, perhaps sharing a behind-the-scenes story or two along the way.

Rehearsals begin on Monday, January 14 in New York City for LUCKY GUY, starring two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, making his Broadway debut, in the final work by three-time Academy Award-nominee Nora Ephron and directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. LUCKY GUY will play a strictly limited engagement at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street), with an opening night on April 1, 2013. Previews will begin March 1.

The GRAMMY Foundation will host 'Play It Forward: A Celebration Of Music's Evolution And Influencers' - the 15th Annual GRAMMY Foundation Music Preservation Project - featuring live musical performances and archival footage from its preservation archives. Performers include GRAMMY winners Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, and LeAnn Rimes; current GRAMMY nominee Ed Sheeran; Mike Einziger of Incubus, singer/songwriter Lianne La Havas, violinist Ann Marie Simpson, and George Thorogood and the Destroyers, as well as other artists to be announced shortly. The evening's musical director will be Darrell Brown, songwriter/producer, Recording Academy Trustee, and GRAMMY Foundation Board member. Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation, will be in attendance, along with other prominent music industry leaders and members of The Recording Academy.

The first national tour of Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical is coming to the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, PA from March 5-10, 2013.

New York Butoh dance company Vangeline Theater will make its Triskelion Arts debut February 1st and 2nd, 2013, with the New York Premiere of SPECTRAL, an evening-length work by Artistic Director Vangeline.

FREUD'S LAST SESSION, New York's long-running hit play by Mark St. Germain, is set to open in Los Angeles starring Judd Hirsch as Sigmund Freud and Tom Cavanagh as C. S. Lewis under the direction of Tyler Marchant, who helmed the original New York production. Presented by The Broad Stage and CRC Productions, FREUD'S LAST SESSION will begin performances tonight, January 11th for a strictly limited engagement through February 10th at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica.

The Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Tito Muñoz, will perform its 33rd annual concert in celebration of the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. The concert will feature the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Chorus (a 125-member volunteer chorus from the greater Cleveland community) and the Central State University Chorus, both prepared by William Henry Caldwell, and Sphinx Competition prizewinner Adé Williams as violin soloist.
