Running July 7, 10-11 at 54 Below, A Little Bit Broadway, A Little Bit Rock 'n' Roll is a brand new show Micky has created to combine his love of Broadway with his love for rock 'n' roll in one thrilling new intimate concert. The show will include some of the Monkees greatest hits, a few rarities and songs from musical roles he has performed and from shows he loves. The show is produced by Van Dean, directed by Van Dean and Micky Dolenz, with music direction by Michael J. Moritz, Jr. Click here for tickets!
Taye Diggs will soon make his return to Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, taking over the lead role in the 2014 Tony Award winning Best Musical Revival from Darren Criss. Diggs will play a limited 12-week engagement starting Wednesday, July 22 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street). Hedwig will mark Diggs' first New York stage role since the 2005 revival of A Soldier's Play. Diggs met the press today and you can go inside the special day below!
The nine original cast members of the hit Broadway musical, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE - Jenni Barber, Derrick Baskin, Deborah S. Craig, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Dan Fogler, Lisa Howard, Jose Llana, Jay Reiss, and Sarah Saltzberg - will reunite for a special one-night-only 10 Year Anniversary benefit concert on Monday, July 6 at 7:30pm at Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street). Thirty years after their New York premiere and 40 years after they first started as a team, Penn & Teller On Broadway will be a rare opportunity for New Yorkers and tourists to see the popular duo. The Broadway engagement will include both elements of their Las Vegas show and classics from their repertoire. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Jennifer Hudson, Cynthia Erivo and Danielle Brooks are set to make their Broadway debuts in the critically acclaimed staging of The Color Purple, as performed at London's Menier Chocolate Factory in 2013. Directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, The Color Purple will begin preview performances on Monday, November 9th at the Bernard B. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Tony winner Jessie Mueller will star in American Repertory Theater's world premiere of WAITRESS this fall. Mueller previously played 'Jenna' in a winter workshop of the musical.
