The Reno Philharmonic Association is the largest performing arts organization in the region, with over 60 professional musicians under the leadership of Music Director Laura Jackson. They perform in Reno, Carson Valley, and the Lake Tahoe region in various outdoor and indoor venues. Reaching over 70,000 people each year, the orchestra presents more than 25 concert performances throughout the year, some free for the community.

Formed in 1962, the ASO today features 70 professional musicians who perform a variety of symphonic music for audiences of all ages. Alfred I. du Pont founded the earliest ancestor of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra (DSO) in the early 19th century. Its name was originally the Tankopanikum Orchestra, which is translated from Native American as “the rushing waters of the Brandywine River”. The ensemble was comprised of a small group of local amateur musicians who were employed as mill workers, doctors, and laborers. Thanks to du Pont's dedication, local interest in music performance was strengthened immensely in a short period of time.

In 1950 the Northern Arizona Orchestra played its first concert in the gymnasium at Northern Arizona University. On May 29, 1961, articles of incorporation were filed with the state of Arizona declaring the Flagstaff Symphony Association a nonprofit corporation. The names on that document are embedded in Flagstaff's history and resound in its present: George Babbitt, Jr., William W. Stevenson, Elden S. Porter, Robert F. Clark, William V. Borcherding, Platt Cline, Charles Fairchilds and Eldon A. Ardrey.

The Juneau Symphony was founded in 1962 by Cliff and Gladys Berge. It was first called the Juneau Symphonette, then the Juneau Little Symphony and played its first concert at the Twentieth Century Theater. The orchestra has presented concerts to Juneau and other Southeast community audiences every season since then. In 1976 the Juneau Symphony created its first board of directors and in 1981 received tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 corporation.
