Arts Centre Melbourne's summer season will be a celebration of fun and adventure with a host of dynamic performances from some of the world's most thrilling artists from December 2013 to February 2014.

FOR THE DAREDEVIL

The Illusionists will be the biggest and boldest magic show Melbourne has ever seen. A grand and spectacular celebration of the art of magic by twelve illusionists, the mind-blowing tricks will leave State Theatre audiences speechless from 3 - 12 January 2014. Audiences of the mesmerizing performance, which sold over $3 million of tickets in eight days when it opened at the Sydney Opera House in early 2013, will witness a nail-biting Russian roulette, jaw dropping acts of levitation, mind-reading, disappearance and escapes for Melbourne's first comprehensive exploration of the genre of magic. The show will be headed to Broadway at the end of 2014.

FOR YOUR TINY DANCERS

In an all-singing, all-dancing musical theatre show, childrens book and television's favourite mouse Angelina Ballerina will perform live in a brand new 'Mousical' at the State Theatre, Wednesday 15 January - Sunday 19 January 2014. The national tour and Australian premiere of Angelina Ballerina The Mousical is based on the award-winning children's book series by author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. This show will appeal to both ballet girls and hip hop boys, featuring not only ballet, but hip-hop, salsa, alternative and tap dancing too. Angelina Ballerina was first launched in 1983 and has since garnered international acclaim, with over 20 books published and an animated television series broadcast across the world.

FOR THE THRILL-SEEKER

Described as America's dancing daredevils, Diavolo Dance Theatre fly into town for Arts Centre Melbourne's summer season from Wednesday 5 - Sunday 9 February in the State Theatre. Leaping from large set pieces with the grace of ballerinas and skateboarding across the stage like extreme sportsmen, this thrill-seeking company presents the double bill Architecture in Motion inspired by urban design and cityscapes. This first piece features a galleon - like a ship on the waves - when a 17-foot-long structure rocks back and forth and the dancers are catapulted across the stage as the momentum builds. The second piece Transit Space, references Southern California's skateboard culture and the 2001 documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys. Set in a skate park, the dancers move about the stage with the speed and fearlessness of extreme sportsmen on makeshift skateboards, riding on vertical ramps.

FOR THE ROMANTICS

The chart-topping composer behind music for Oscar-winning film BLACK SWAN, Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar and box-office record breaker The Intouchables,Ludovico Einaudi, makes his Melbourne debut at Hamer Hall, Thursday 15 February 2014. The concert will feature his latest album, In A Time Lapseamongst a hair-raising display of piano-bled ballads and euphoric film scores. After filling the world's greatest concert halls from the Barbican to the Royal Albert Hall in London, Einaudi will take to the Hamer Hall stage in a one-off performance. Having topped the iTunes classical chart with a whopping nine simultaneous singles, Italian maestro Ludovico Einaudi has proved his versatility with his famously re-imagined score for Dr. Zhivago and a series of high profile commercials - from the NBA and Nissan to the BBC and The X Factor . After 11 record-breaking albums, Ludovico Einaudi known as a master of atmospherica, will perform piano and vocals accompanied by a virtuosic ensemble.

FOR THE EXPLORER IN EVERYONE

Kids and families can get up-close and personal with a cast of Australian dinosaurs in Erth's Dinosaur Zoo at Arts Centre Melbourne's, Fairfax Studiofrom Tuesday 7 - Sunday 19 January, 2014. Featuring large-scale puppets, Erth's Dinosaur Zoo is an interactive show where audiences can touch and play with the pre-historic dinosaur cast, including cute baby dinos and a teeth-gnashing Tyrannosaur. In this educational presentation, kids will learn about insects, mammals and dinosaurs that once roamed the Southern Hemisphere. Founded in 1990 in Ballarat, Victoria, Erth has developed a wide repertoire of puppetry and physical theatre. Their dinosaur creations are developed in consultation with palaeontologists and feature in some of the world's top musuems.

FOR THE SPONTANEOUS

Arts Centre Melbourne presents Play Me, I'm Yours - 30 pianos in the heart of Melbourne's CBD and surrounds, to be played spontaneously - as part of the internationally touring artwork devised by British artist Luke Jerram. For three weeks from 9 January 2014 - 27 January 2014 the 'street pianos' will pop up around Arts Centre Melbourne, the city and surrounds, to encourage people to play and discover their inner creativity and spontaneity. Nearly 1000 pianos have now been installed in 37 cities across the globe, from New York to Sao Paulo bearing the simple invitation 'Play Me, I'm Yours.' and has reached more than three million people worldwide. The pianos have been located everywhere from public parks to bridges to encourage the public to own their urban environment.

FOR THE STYLISH

The most show-stopping and glamorous examples of stage costume from Arts Centre Melbourne's Performing Arts Collection including costumes worn by Dame Edna Everage, Kylie Minogue and Dame Nellie Melba, will be showcased in All That Glitters, a new free exhibition in Gallery I from 16 November 2013 - 23 February 2014. The exhibition, which features couture-standard costumes, elaborate costume jewellery, costume designs, photographs and behind the scenes footage, celebrates the vision, creativity and skill of those who created them and the show-stopping performances that brought them to life. Highlights include Dame Edna Everage's iconic gladioli dress and a Swarovski crystal encrusted costume designed by John Galliano, worn by Kylie Minogue during her Kylie Showgirl: Homecoming Tour in 2006.

FOR THE FESTIVE

Arts Centre Melbourne's lawn will be the site of a new Christmas cottage installation Deck the Houses from Wednesday 20 November 2013 - Sunday 5 January 2014. Inspired by the twinkling, light-covered house that line Melbourne's streets at Christmas time. Arts Centre Melbourne has commissioned renowned production designer and artist Christian Wagstaff to create Deck the Houses, a free pop-up artwork that promises to be a visually spectacular art installation featuring a metallic mirrored house frame, which will then be decorated with illuminating Christmas lighting concepts.
