Sydney Theatre Company's 2010 productions went on general sale on Tuesday 1 December 2009 and the Company's all-time one day box office sales record was broken, with more than 5,000 tickets sold throughout the day.

Says General Manager Rob Brookman, "This is an excellent result. We've already had a great response from audiences taking up Season Ticket packages which continue to sell strongly. We're thrilled that casual ticket buyers are also responding with such enthusiasm. We're now about half-way to our ambitious box offIce Target of $13.9 million for 2010, but with both season tickets and single tickets selling strongly, we're optimistic about the outcome."

Proving to be the most popular on the first day of general sales were: Uncle Vanya featuring Cate Blanchett, John Bell, Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving; Long Day's Journey Into Night featuring William Hurt and Robin Nevin; and the rock musical Spring Awakening and Steppenwolf Theatre's August: Osage County.
