Roald Dahl's GEORGE'S MARVELLOUS MEDICINE Returns To QPAC

By:

Following its sold-out run at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in 2016, shake and stir theatre co's stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's family favourite George's Marvellous Medicine returns to the Cremorne Theatre from 21 August to 5 September 2018, with new performances added due to popular demand.

Packed to the rafters with mischief, magic and mammoth laughs, the team behind the multi-Helpmann Award nominated Australian production of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes & Dirty Beasts have brought to life another of Dahl's popular children's novels.

In this spectacular, critically-acclaimed live show, what starts as just another boring day for George quickly turns into a marvellous experiment of gigantic proportions.

George can't stand his Grandma. She complains all the time, she's mean and she smells funny. On this particular day, Grandma is much more annoying than usual and George has had enough.

Wanting to teach her a lesson and put an end to her constant nagging, George concocts a special medicine, greater than any medicine in the history of medicines. What he doesn't expect is that this medicine may actually work - just not in the way he thinks it will.

Director Ross Balbuziente said it was thrilling to bring another iconic Roald Dahl work to life.

"George's Marvellous Medicine was an absolute favourite of mine as a kid and still remains one of my cherished childhood books. We relished the rare opportunity to adapt Dahl's much-loved book for stage," said Mr Balbuziente.

"Our aim to is get kids of all ages to laugh as hard as they ever have before; after all - laughter is the best medicine. It's a rocketing, surprised-filled, hilarious adventure featuring some our country's best physical and comic actors."

George's Marvellous Medicine is suitable for ages six and up. Tickets are on sale via qpac.com.au or 136 246.
