Leaping from the pages of a swash-buckling adventure novel, two pirates suddenly find themselves in present-day Melbourne. Once Were Pirates by Emilie Collyer is a hilarious and cut-throat social commentary on our dog-eat-dog world at Northcote Town Hall, Studio 2 from Wednesday 17 - Sunday 28 September, 2014.

After a life on the high seas, pirates Shane and Gareth find themselves in the 'real world' and have to figure out how to live in a modern-day society where pillaging and plundering are frowned upon. However, as the pair integrate themselves into their surrounding they discover that the ruthless antics of the seas isn't too different from the every-man-for-himself world of today.

Written by Emilie Collyer, winner of 2013 Melbourne Fringe Best Emerging Writer Award for her play The Good Girl, and starring James Cook and Ben Clements as the two pirates, Once Were Pirates is a tale of two 'bad' men trying to make good.
