NEXT TO NORMAL Plays Limited Run in Sydney, Sept 13 - Oct 7

By:

Multi award winning musical Next to Normal is coming to Sydney for a strictly limited season at the Capitol Theatre playing from 13 September to 7 October 2012. Next to Normal is an acclaimed, groundbreaking musical that won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three 2009 Tony Awards.

With provocative lyrics, an electrifying contemporary score and more than 30 original songs, Next to Normal explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family’s world intact. Next to Normal is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other.

The Goodman’s seem like a perfect family. The only problem is that sometimes mother Diana seems, well...a little too happy, and we soon find out why. Her husband Dan worries all the time. Their daughter Natalie is intent on getting a scholarship to Yale and leaving home. And their son Gabe, well...that’s another story entirely.

Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical Score, and the 2010 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Next to Normal was also chosen as “one of the year’s TEN best” by major critics around the country including The Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times.

The Australian cast will be directed by Tyran Parke with Kelley Abbey as Associate Director/Musical Staging and Peter Rutherford as Musical Director.
