My Romantic History by D.C. Jackson, directed by David Whiteley will close on 13 August.

"Jackson's clear-eyed but brilliant comic invention is a joy"

««««« The Scotsman

"If you haven't met someone by the time you graduate, you're going to marry some idiot from your work.

It's that simple. Do you know how they get animals to breed in captivity? They put them in the same cage."

My Romantic History is a poignant, witty tale about love and obsession - the perfect comedy to open the second half of Red Stitch's 2011 season.
A few too many beers at an after work social drinks and suddenly Tom and Amy find themselves facing the prospect of a relationship. They didn't plan it, they didn't really want it and the fact that they work together just makes it worse. Office romances are tricky, especially when you're still not over your ex.

My Romantic History is a sharp new comedy about love and loss. From awkward teenage obsession to inglorious affairs with colleagues, the modern relationship and the path to adulthood are taken apart in this cleverly constructed gem, featuring a kaleidoscope of characters and a veritable cascade of witty one-liners.

This Australian premiere of My Romantic History is directed by Red Stitch Artistic Director David Whiteley and features Red Stitch Ensemble member Tim Potter, with special guest actors Zoe Boesen and Ngaire Dawn Fair. Design by residents Peter Mumford (set) and Stelios Karagiannis (lighting).

D.C. Jackson is an award-winning Scottish playwright whose repertoire includes The Wall, The Ducky and The Chooky Brae to name a few. My Romantic History played to critical acclaim at the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, winning a Scotsman Fringe First. Jackson is currently under commission to The Royal Court Theatre and The National Theatre of Scotland and is adapting The Marriage Of Figaro for the Royal Lyceum Theatre.
