Lady Blackbird Set to Make Her Australian Debut This Spring
The tour will kick off with a one-night-only performance at southern Sydney's newest performing arts centre, Sutherland Pavilion.
International jazz and soul singer Lady Blackbird is set to make her long-awaited Australian debut this spring, in a three-city tour spanning Sydney, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast.
This tour marks the first time Lady Blackbird has performed in Australia, kicking off with a one-night-only performance at southern Sydney's newest performing arts centre, Sutherland Pavilion on September 26. She will then perform at Melbourne Recital Centre on September 30 before concluding her tour headlining the BLEACH Festival at HOTA on the Gold Coast on October 2.
“There's something incredibly special about bringing this music - music that came from the deepest, most honest place inside me - to a new audience on the other side of the world. I can’t wait to step onto stages across Australia and share these songs with you," said the artist.
Lady Blackbird rose to prominence in 2020 when her cover of Nina Simone's Blackbird brought her into the global spotlight. Since then, her critically acclaimed debut album Black Acid Soul earned her the Jazz FM Award for International Jazz Act of the Year, and her 2024 follow-up Slang Spirituals topped charts across the world. She has sold out shows across Europe and the US and collaborated with acclaimed performers such as Gregory Porter, Moby, Trevor Horn, Nitin Sawhney and Billy Porter.
For her Australian Debut Tour, Lady Blackbird will be drawing on her full catalogue, from the haunting jazz standards and soul-tinged originals of Black Acid Soul to the cinematic, genre-defying Slang Spirituals, alongside other jazz covers that have become a regular part of her live shows.
