Tickets are on sale for the Australian premiere of Broadway rock musical High Fidelity, which will debut at Chapel Off Chapel later from September 11th this year.
Brought to Australia by independent theatre company, Pursued By Bear, they hope to follow the success of their 2013 production of Tom Kitt's Next to Normal, which was a record-setting sell-out season at Chapel Off Chapel.
High Fidelity tells the story of Rob Gordon, and his failed attempts at love. Rob shares his journey revisiting past relationships to see where it all went wrong, hoping to learn how to win back his current flame, Laura.
The show uses Rob and his friends' love of music as a guide through their problems and their attempts to answer the questions 'what makes and breaks a relationship?' and "what makes us start and stop loving someone?'.
David Ward, director of the upcoming production says it is both exciting and challenging for the cast and crew to be tackling such a well-known and respected text with recognisable musical influences from the 70s, 80s and 90s, including Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen and Marvin Gaye.
"Nick Hornby's classic novel is an iconic piece fiction about the male condition and tackles ideas of love and relationships from a perspective that is uniquely acerbic, touching, cynical and hilarious.
"This Australian premiere of 'High Fidelity' aims to treat the material in an entirely new way that has never been seen before in book, screen or stage" he said.
High Fidelity will be performed at Chapel off Chapel from Thursday 11 September to Sunday 21 September.
Tickets are on sale now.
