Yale Rep & A.R.T. Founding Member Jeremy Geidt Passes Away at 83
According to published reports, founding member of both Yale Repertory Theatre and A.R.T., Jeremy Geidt, passed away in his Cambridge home from a heart attack on Tuesday, August 6. He was 83 years old.
In 1961, after appearing in stage and teleVision Productions, he began to tour with the ensemble "The Establishment," who performed satire. Geidt stayed in the States, becoming a founding member of the Yale Repertory Theatre in 1966. He went on to become a founding member of the American Repertory Theater.
His credits included: The Seagull, Julius Caesar, Three Sisters, The Onion Cellar, Major Barbara (Undershaft), Heartbreak House(Shotover), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Quince four times, Snug once), Henry IV (Falstaff), Twelfth Night (Toby Belch), The Caretaker (Davies), The Homecoming (Max), Loot (Truscott), Man and Superman (Mendoza/Devil), Waiting for Godot (Vladimir), The Threepenny Opera (Peacham/Petey), Ivanov (Lebedev), Three Sisters (Chebutkin), Buried Child (Dodge), The Cherry Orchard (Gaev) and The King Stag (Pantelone).
Geidt was trained at The Old Vic Theatre School and taught at Harvard College, Harvard's Summer and Extension Schools and at the A.R.T/MXAT Institute.
