Abingdon Theatre Company presents a free reading of BLACK BUTTERFLIES, a new play by Marylou DiPietro, on Monday, October 27 at 7pm, at Abingdon Theate Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street), as part of its ongoing Page2Stage Reading Series. William Ryall, a veteran of 14 Broadway shows including CHAPLIN, ANYTHING GOES, and AMADEUS, is set to direct.

Marylou DiPietro's BLACK BUTTERFLIES is the story of Rose Williams, the enigmatic, older sister to playwright Tennessee Williams (a.k.a. Tom). Rose is the ideal playmate for her shy, sickly brother. Everything changes when the family moves to St. Louis. As Rose and Tomcope with their parents and their emerging sexual identities, theirrelationship crumbles. Tom escapes while Rose remains imprisoned behind a wall of silence. BLACK BUTTERFLIES depicts the love and betrayal between a sister and brother.

The cast, directed by Mr. Ryall, includes Lisa Bostnar, Ben Diskant, Henry Gottfried, Kurt Andrew Kelly, Rob Roy, and Jennifer Joan Thompson.

The Page2Stage Reading of BLACK BUTTERFLIES is set for Monday, October 27 at 7pm at Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). The reading is free and open to the public, on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required. For more information, visit www.abingdontheatre.org.
