Will Friedwald's FEVER, THE BLUES AND THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK Set for 92YTribeca, 4/4

92YTribeca presents "FEVER," THE BLUES AND THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK on Thu, Apr 4, 12-1 pm. Tickets from $21.

"Fever" is a great song with a fascinating history. It made the journey from R&B (Little Willie John) to mainstream pop (Peggy Lee) and then, surprisingly, into rock & roll (Elvis Presley). But, as audio and video excerpts show, the song's trajectory and history also make for a fascinating look at what the popular song is, what a standard is, and what the blues are-and how they all affect and interact with each other.

Will Friedwald writes about jazz and nightlife for The Wall Street Journal and is the author of A Biographical Guide to the Great Jazz and Pop Singers and Jazz Singing. He has written over 600 liner notes for CDs and received eight Grammy nominations.

The presentation will take place at 200 Hudson Street, 92YTribeca. For more information, go to or call 212.601.1000.
