As part of its FUV Live concert series, WFUV will air performances by two stellar artists this August. On Monday, August 15th at 8:00 PM, banjo player, singer and songwriter Abigail Washburn performs a private concert for WFUV members at Rockwood Music Hall. Later that week, Nick Lowe will take the stage at the Living Room on Thursday, August 18th at 7:00 PM to perform songs from his new CD, The Old Magic, as well as songs from decades-spanning career. Both concerts can be heard live on 90.7 FM in New York City and at wfuv.org around the world.
Profiled in Newsweek in 2008 for creating a "gorgeous, joyful new sound," songwriter and clawhammer banjo player Abigail Washburn takes her bold and expansive musical vision to new heights on her third recording, City of Refuge. Raw, ethereal and at times lushly orchestrated, the album melds the forces of renowned producer Tucker Martine with Washburn's classic songwriting and old-time storytelling aesthetic. John Platt hosts as Washburn brings her Appalachian sound to New York.Videos
