Violetone's Battle of the Bands is Coming to The Bowery Electric

Come to Violetone's Battle of the Bands: a contest highlighting young artists and their sounds. Hosted by Michael Ronca, Battle of the Bands will have five bands compete against each other to determine who is the best band in Washington Square and win an exclusive mentoring session with well-established producer Danny Ross. Event Lineup:

Gillian Atlas

Originally from St. Louis, MO and other pockets of Michigan, Gillian Atlas is an alternative singer songwriter currently based in New York City. Raised by The Beatles, Atlas has a sweet tooth for love songs and not so casual swooning. Heavily inspired by Fiona Apple, Nina Simone, and Aimee Mann, Gillian Atlas is a queer storyteller with too much to say. Their first release, "Bad Cartoons", indulges the push and pull of inexorable love, and they plan on releasing many artistic works in the near future.

The Robert Cantillon Band

The Robert Cantillon Band is a four-piece rock band from New York, NY. The band performs the original compositions of frontman and guitarist Robert Cantillon, as well as covers of rock classics. The band will be performing at the Battle of the Bands with Ethan on the keys, Timothy on the bass, and Julen on the drums.

RosaLi

Singer songwriter RosaLi is deeply influenced by R&B/pop of the late 90s. As a Taiwanese singer now based in New York, she is pioneering a new sound by including Mandarin into all of her projects. Having a four octave vocal range, RosaLi isn't afraid to showcase her smokey chest voice and smooth falsetto tone in her music. With only two singles under her wing, RosaLi can't wait to release more of her songs in the upcoming year!

The Sheer Currents

Hailing from New York City, The Sheer Currents are a lively rock band playing with a punk and alternative inspired sound. With vocalist/guitarist Ted, guitarist Will, bassist Max, and drummer David, the group released their debut EP in September of 2021 and have since been bringing their raw energy and refined musicianship all around the city. They are constantly working on new music and are planning to release more music in the very near future.

Under the Bed

Under The Bed is a newly formed collective featuring the production and vocal talents of nine different creatives who found each other by chance. Our sound was formed by collaboration with hard-hitting tracks that span from grimy East Coast-inspired rap to smooth Neo-soul-influenced sounds. Although this will be this first official performance, members include Zgeds, Trevor Nightly, and Kid Kuza who already have a formidable solo discography. To accompany them are rappers and producers Dr8ke, Bronco, egodeafmode, Rafer, Josh Darkwah, and LP Beats.
