Bottle Factory Theater and Argo Theater Company will present the NY premiere of 33 to Nothing, a new play with music, written and composed by Grant James Varjas. 33 to Nothing will begin previews on Thursday, March 2 for a limited engagement through Saturday, April 8 at the Bottle Factory Theater (195 East 3rd Street, between Avenues A & B). Opening night is Wednesday, March 8 at 8:00 PM.

"A slice-of-life look at a struggling NYC rock band on the eve of their break up, 33 to Nothing chronicles an aging group of friends who discover their rock and roll passion extinguished as they embark on a new life-plan that includes mortgages and 401K," state press notes. Written by Tectonic Theater member Grant James Varjas and directed by John B. Good, 33 to Nothing "is filled with clever pop culture bon mots, an exhilarating sound score and well-drawn, idiosyncratic characters. A funny, heartwarming and wistful look at how the bonds between friends and lovers are tested by the onset of adult responsibilities. The play features original songs written by Varjas, which the actors perform as a band."

The Bottle Factory Theater is home to a group of actors and writers who have worked extensively with Tom Noonan and his theater Paradise Factory, "and share a similar artistic sensibility that Noonan pioneered." 33 to Nothing will also re-team Varjas with Good and Amanda Gruss; the three performed together in Territory at Bottle Factory Theater in 2003.

The cast will also feature the NY theater debut of singer/songwriter Preston Clarke, who recently make his network television debut on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." Joining Clarke will be Ken Forman (Late Fragment at Studio Dante; Wilder, Wilder, Wilder on Broadway; Tom Nonan's What the Hell's Your Problem), John B. Good, Amanda Gruss (Tom Noonan's Waiting; Territory at Bottle Factory) and Varjas.

Varjas also wrote the play The Dead Part of You, which was adapted into short film that starred Matthew Lillard (Scream). A member of Tectonic Theater Project, he is currently working with Moises Kaufman (The Laramie Project) as an actor and writer on a new play about Beethoven, and was featured in the HBO film version of The Laramie Project. His NY acting credits include Territory (Bottle Factory Theater); Beyond Recognition (Abingdon Theater); The Castle (Manhattan Ensemble Theater); Tom Noonan's What the Hell's Your Problem (Paradise Factory); Christopher Shinn's Sockdolager, Killing Hand (by David Zelnik), and Tesla's Letters (by Jeffrey Stanley, dir. Curt Dempster) all at Ensemble Studio Theater; and Twelve Dreams (dir. and writer James Lapine, Lincoln Center). He has composed and performed original music for Lee Blessing's Down The Road, starring Eric Stoltz at the Atlantic Theater in NYC, and Margaux Lansky's recent SizeAte. He was lead singer and keyboardist for NYC band Mock Turtle for three years.

The performance schedule is Wednesday – Saturday at 8:00 PM, with an added performance on Monday, March 6 at 8:00 PM. Ticket prices range from $19 - 30 and available by calling SmartTix at 212-868-4444 or online
