Laura Osnes, Stephanie J. Block, Montego Glover, Rory O'Malley and Keala Settle are among the more than 50 caring members of the Broadway community will be sleeping on the streets of New York City on August 15th in support of the homeless youth at Covenant House. Audra McDonald, a participant in the Broadway Sleep Out for the past three years, will not be sleeping on the street this time due to her pregnancy, but will still be fundraising for the event.

"With the recent violence here at home and abroad, I am energized to love as hard as I can," says Covenant House International Board Member, Broadway's Capathia Jenkins. "I'm honored to be a part of the Broadway community as we step up to this worthy cause with our hearts wide open for the fourth consecutive year. These extraordinary kids of Covenant House continue to feed my soul."

Jenkins will be joined by performers, directors, technicians and behind-the-scenes professionals who are reaching out to homeless young people in this inspiring, personal way. Some of the participants will be sleeping on the streets of New York City for the fourth time. (For a complete list of participants, visit broadwaysleepout.org.)

"The Broadway community is one of our biggest champions ... the unity they display when they come together in solidarity on this night shows how dedicated they are to end youth homelessness," says Covenant House President Kevin Ryan. "Their actions are an incredible show of support for the thousands of young people struggling to survive every night on our streets."

The Sleep Out is a one-night fundraising event, beginning with the young people of Covenant House meeting and speaking with the Broadway community at the crisis shelter at 460 W 41st Street. The Broadway Sleep Out participants will then receive cardboard boxes, sleeping bags, and a piece of pavement for the night.

The Sleep Out Executive Committee of Audra McDonald, Stephanie J. Block, Jeff Calhoun, Darius de Haas, Capathia Jenkins, Tom Schumacher, and Keala Settle have rallied the entire Broadway community to fight homelessness. Sleep Out: Broadway Edition will be held on August 15th, 2016 and is open to any member of the theatrical community with a Broadway, Off-Broadway, or National Tour credit.
