Housing Works announces the details of its highly anticipated eighth annual Fashion for Action fall fundraiser. Fashion for Action is a four-day charitable designer shopping event that raises funds for homeless and low- income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

On November 16, a ticketed Opening Night Reception will bring the party and designer shopping together at the beautiful Altman Building in Chelsea. With the support of fashion industry leaders such as Kevin Harter, VP of Fashion Direction for Bloomingdale's, and Michael Carl, Fashion Market Director for Vanity Fair and member of Housing Work's Thrift Shop Board of Directors, hundreds of brands are expected to donate new apparel, accessories and beauty for the event.

Housing Works is thrilled to have celebrated designer Thom Browne return to the event as Honorary Chair with the added support of two special Co-Chairs, Oscar- nominated actress and fashion enthusiast Patricia Clarkson and designer and philanthropist Rachel Roy. Together they will leverage their influence and leadership to create an inspiring fundraiser event. "It's so exciting to be involved again this year," says Browne who chaired last year's most successful fundraiser to date. "Fashion for Action is exactly what it sounds like," echoes Roy. "The design community is coming together to benefit a fantastic cause and it feels good to give back." Clarkson adds, "Housing Works really represents the best of New York."

Guests attending the event will have advance access to shop from more than $1 million worth of new, high-end apparel and beauty merchandise from over 150 designers. All will be available for sale at charitable prices. The Opening Night Reception will be the perfect blend of style, shopping, and feel-good fundraising as guests enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a silent auction. Fashion for Action will continue as a three-day designer sale November 17-19 at the Altman Building. As in previous years, these consumer shopping days will be open to the public.
