The George London Foundation for Singers Announces 2012-13 Season: Matthew Polenzani, Vivica Genaux and More


The 18th annual George London Foundation Recital Series – which presents "pairs of outstanding opera singers, many of whom were winners of a George London prize early in their careers or recent George London Award recipients" – features three events:

Vivica Genaux, mezzo-soprano, and Daniel Okulitch, bass-baritone, with Craig Rutenberg, piano, on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 4:30 PM. Mr. Oklulitch is a 2004 George London Award winner.

Matthew Polenzani, tenor, and Emalie Savoy, soprano, with Ken Noda, piano, on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at 4:30 PM. Mr. Polenzani is a 1998 George London Award winner; MS. Savoy won her George London Award in 2011.

Susanna Phillips, soprano, and Joseph Kaiser, tenor, with Myra Huang, piano, on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 4:30 PM. Ms. Phillips is a 2005 George London Award winner, and Mr. Kaiser won a George London Encouragement Award in 2000 as a baritone, and another Encouragement Award in 2005 as a tenor.

The 42nd annual George London Foundation Awards Competition begins with three days of preliminary auditions and culminates with the final round and award ceremony open to the public. The 2013 competition takes place February 25-March 1, and the public is invited to attend the competition finals and awards announcement on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 4:00 PM.

All events will be in the Gilder Lehrman Hall at the Morgan Library, 225 Madison Avenue at 36th Street. A subscription to the series of all three recitals is $120. Single tickets will be sold beginning September 15 for $45 each. Tickets to the competition finals are $20, $10 for series subscribers.
