The Fantasticks Sends Vday Wishes to Engaged Couple

The cast of The Fantasticks sent Valentine's Day wishes, along with a bottle of champagne and a bouquet of red roses, to real-life Brooklyn couple Robert Husney and Renee Shalom today, whose engagement interrupted last Tuesday's performance of the hit musical.

"The audience got to see two love stories unfold onstage for the price of one during the evening performance on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 when star Burke Moses interrupted the curtain call to bring audience-member Robert Husney and his girlfriend Renee Shalom onstage.  Husney then got down on one knee and, after whispering a few private words, presented Shalom with a ring, asking her to marry him.  The crowd cheered, as Shalom quickly accepted the propsal," state press notes.

The musical opened on Wednesday, August 23, at New York's Snapple  Theater Center (210 West 50th Street at Broadway).  This beloved, musical love story features music by Harvey Schmidt and book and lyrics by Tom JonesMr. Jones also directs.

The Fantasticks features Thomas Bruce ("Henry"), John Deyle ("Hucklebee"), Sara Jean Ford ("Luisa"), Burke Moses ("El Gallo"), Robert R. Oliver ("Mortimer"), Nick Spangler ("The Mute"), Douglas Ullman, Jr. ("Matt"), and Martin Vidnovic as ("Bellomy").

The show is produced by Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Thomas Viertel.
