Variety writes that Stanley Chase, who worked as a producer for theatre, television and film, passed away on October 7, 2014. He was 87.

Chase started out as a script analyst at CBS but eventually moved into theatre. He produced Kurt Weill and Bertold Bercht's off-Broadway production of THE THREEPENNY OPERA, as well as A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, THE CAVE DWELLERS, THE PLOTTING SHED and FREE AND EASY.

He went back to his TV roots in 1963 as co-creator of "Inside Danny Baker" with Mel Brooks and later became vice president of network television program development for ABC. He moved over to NBC to produce "Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theater" and several TV movies.

His first feature film was THE HELL WITH HEROES, which led Chase to form his own film company, which worked with CBS on their "Movie of the Week" and more. He also produced MACK THE KNIFE and FEAR ON TRIAL, among other projects.
