THIRD To Have Reading At The Theater At The 14th ST Y

THIRD, written by and featuring Broadway World-award winning actor Ty Autry, featuring Héctor Matías and directed by Andrew J. Mullins, comes to the stage as a one-night-only event at the 14th Street Y Theater at 8pm on Tuesday, December 11th.

Right off the heels of his latest play, A Southern Fairytale, Autry debuts his new play, presented as part of Different Translation's Noche Oscura Series. THIRD examines the desires, vulnerabilities, and insecurities that one couple faces when they are presented with the opportunity for their very first threesome. Fears and jealousy riddle the two lovers as they embrace the opportunity to grow in their relationship but when the answer isn't always black and white, where do you find the solution?

THIRD attempts to shed light on a topic not commonly explored: what happens when two happy, healthy, consenting queer adults decide they want an "other" in their relationship? With his signature attention to detail, Autry crafts beautifully human-and ultimately flawed-characters as we join them on their rollercoaster of discovery.

"The story was born out of my own personal journey with sex and also coming from a very southern Christian background," says Autry. "I think what people will connect with is that gut feeling you get before you do something big - whether it's terrible or beautiful."

For this production, THIRD is mounted as a staged reading with a talkback immediately following the performance. "My hope is to learn what gets the audience going and if they connected with something in the script; no matter where they come from or their orientation," states Autry.

In addition to Autry, Matías and Mullins, the production team includes stage directions read by Chandler Converse and Production Stage Manager Ashton Pickering.

THIRD will be performed on December 11th at 8:00 PM as part of Different Translation's Noche Oscura Series at the Theater at 14th Street Y, 344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10003. This event is free with required reservations, which are available through the EventBrite page listing.
