Variety is reporting that actors Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep will be starring a new romantic comedy (as of now untitled) written and directed by Nancy Meyers. The film is set to start shooting in February. Meyers will be producing the film along with Scott Rudin.

"Martin and Baldwin will play rivals for the affection of a woman (Streep). Meyers set up the project at U after making her two previous films at Columbia in "Something's Gotta Give" and "The Holiday." Universal acquired foreign on the latter, and the film performed more strongly overseas than it did domestically," resports Variety.

Meryl Streep's recent movie credits include The Devil Wears Prada, Julie and Julia, Mamma Mia! The Movie, and the upcoming film adaptation of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt.  She is a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice, and has been nominated for an additional 11 Oscars.  Other film credits include The Deer Hunter, Silkwood, Out of Africa, Postcards from the Edge, Heartburn, The Bridges of Madison County and Adaptation. Her many theatre credits include Trelawney of the 'Wells,' The Taming of the Shrew, Happy End, The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull and Mother Courage and Her Children (at Shakespeare in the Park).

Alec Baldwin, who currently appears and won an Emmy for his work on the hit sitcom "30 Rock," recently appeared Off-Broadway in Entertaining Mr. Sloane. He received a Tony Award nomination for his work in the 1992 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, and has also appeared on New York stages in Twentieth Century, Prelude to a Kiss, Loot and Serious Money.  His many film credits include The Hunt for Red October, Glengarry Glen Ross, Pearl Harbor, The Aviator and The Cooler, for which he received an Oscar nod.

Steve Martin's film credits include Father of the Bride, Little of Shop of Horrors, Shop Girl, Leap of Faith, My Blue Heaven, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and Pink Panther. He is also playwright and has authored over twenty short plays including the popular Picasso at the Lapine Agile.
