Stage and screen actor Jeremy Jordan is headed to CBS's new SUPERGIRL series.

TVLine writes that the Broadway vet will play 'Winslow "Winn" Schott', described as "a superstar IT whiz who works alongside Kara (GLEE's Melissa Benoist) at CatCo." In the DC Comics universe, Schott is the alias of 'The Toyman', a villain who uses toy-inspired weapons to commit crimes.

From Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Prods., the CBS pilot SUPERGIRL will be based on characters from DC Comics and will follow Kara Zor-El (Benoist), who comes to earth after escaping the destruction of Krypton. After many years hiding her abilities, she joins the ranks of her cousin Superman to become the hero she was meant to be. SUPERGIRL has already been given a series commitment.

Also in the cast are two former superheroes -- one-time Superman Dean Cain and Helen Slater, star of the 1984 film SUPERGIRL -- as well as Mehcad Brooks, Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood and Tony winner Laura Benanti.

SUPERGIRL marks a reunion for Flockhart and Greg Berlanti, who also executive produced NBC's PARENTHOOD. The pilot was written by Ali Adler ("No Ordinary Family") and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "The Flash"). They will also executive produce along with Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros. TV.

Jordan, who can currently be seen on the big screen in the film adaptation of Jason Robert Brown's musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS, recently starred in an NYC concert version of PARADE opposite Laura Benanti. Among his TV credits are the cult hit SMASH, as well as ELEMENTARY and LAW & ORDER: SVU. The actor was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012 for his role as 'Jack Kelly' in Broadway's NEWSIES. Before that, he starred onstage in BONNIE AND CLYDE, ROCK OF AGES and WEST SIDE STORY.
