Spamalot Breaks House Record Again with $1 Million Gross

For the 6th consecutive time, Spamalot has shattered box office records at the Shubert Theatre, raking in $1,010,063.96 for the 8 performance week ending July 10th, 2005.

The irreverent musical blockbuster, which is based upon the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, opened at the Shubert on March 17th. In addition to the Best Musical Tony, Spamalot picked up the Best Director of a Musical Tony for Mike Nichols and Best Featured Actress in a Musical for Sara Ramirez. In addition, it won the 2005 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Outstanding Musical. The show's score is by Eric Idle and John Du Prez with a book by Idle, and in addition to Ramirez, it features Tim Curry, Hank Azaria, Christopher Sieber, Michael McGrath, Christian Borle and others as its loopy knights.
