Due to the back injury of William Biff McGuire, Kathleen Clark's Southern Comforts has been delayed.  Previously scheduled to begin previews on September 19th and open on October 29th, the Primary Stages show will now begin previews on September 26th and open on November 4th at 59E59 Theaters.

Tony-nominee McGuire (The Young Man from Atlanta, Morning's at Seven), who was to have co-starred with Tony-nominee Penny Fuller (Applause, The Dinner Party) has now been replaced by Larry Keith (Caroline, or Change, Cabaret).

"Some people need continuous change in order to feel vital and alive. Others are terrified of unsettling the peace that they have established. Two-time O'Neill Playwright's Conference participant Kathleen Clark uses her words to detail this tour-de-force journey of a widow and widower who meet later in life and find a way into each other's hearts. Southern Comforts is a beautiful exploration of the intimate workings of all relationships," state Primary Stages notes on the play, which was a hit in its Florida premiere. The production will be directed by Tony Award-winning actress Judith Ivey (Follies, Hurlyburly).

The design team will comprise Thomas Lynch (sets), Joseph G. Aulisi (costumes), Brian Nason (lighting), T. Richard Fitzgerald (sound).  The show will feature music composition by Paul Schwartz.

Southern Comforts will play the following performance schedule: Tuesdays at 7PM, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8PM, with matinees Saturdays at 2PM. Additionally, there are Sunday matinees scheduled for October 1, 8, 15 & 22 at 3PM, and a Wednesday matinee on October 25 at 2PM. Group Tickets (15+) are $47.50 each, and are available by calling (212) 840-9705.
