Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSUN) ("PacSun"), the premier California lifestyle retailer, celebrated its inaugural "Golden State of Mind Day"(GSOM Day) on June 21, which was the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. PacSun swept the nation with a full, 20-hour day of events and activations that demonstrated PacSun is the preeminent California lifestyle retailer and that the "Golden State of Mind" thrives across the country.
"GSOM Day presented an opportunity for PacSun to connect with customers directly and in their own backyards, demonstrating how the inspiration behind the "Golden State of Mind" truly lives everywhere," said Gary Schoenfeld, CEO of PacSun. "The results of our GSOM Day activations in 20-cities throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico are an incredible testament to the pervasiveness of the Golden State of Mind." The day was kicked off at sunrise in Puerto Rico with Hurley Pro surfers, Nat Young and Brian Toth, sharing the morning with fans and finding some time to hit the waves at Isabela Beach. From the surf to the sandy beaches of Florida, a gathering at Miami Beach brought together sun seekers who were treated to GSOM-themed umbrellas and towels. As the day's activities progressed, people in cities such as Chicago, Denver and Portland found themselves picking up tickets to attend events occurring later Saturday night. Tickets were distributed in Downtown Denver to a Skrillex concert at Red Rock Amphitheatre; and baseball fans had a chance to take in the Cubs game from the Sky Lounge Wrigley Rooftop with the exciting game in clear view, and food and beverages at the ready. At Burnside Skatepark in Portland, people who were there to celebrate "Go Skateboarding Day" received free product from Diamond Supply Co. and treats from the popular Voodoo Doughnuts van.
After 20 hours of non-stop activities, the last event at the Volcom House began just as the sun set on the North Shore of Oahu. Featuring live entertainment from local Hawaiian band Dread Ashanti, attendees also enjoyed a screening of Volcom's original feature film "True to This."
Additional cities that were part of the day's festivities and featured free food from popular local food trucks and restaurants, included: Atlanta, which enjoyed Nana G's Chicken and Waffles; Nashville, which feasted on some tasty southern food from Slow & Low; Austin 'kept it weird' with food from The Peached Tortilla; San Franciscans sailed into the Beach Hut Cafe; and Palm Springs patrons of Pappy & Harriet'sreceived free drink tickets.
