Founded in 2010 by Gil O'Brien, along with co-founders Michael Brady, Robert Skelly and Peter Bloch, the mission of WIFF has been to attract, encourage and celebrate new and independent filmmakers. Screenings include outstanding, full-length features, shorts and documentaries, and will run entirely at IndieScreen; the waterfront theater, situated on the corner of Kent Avenue and South 2nd Street. This state-of-the-art 100 seat screening room with a large restaurant/bar makes for a delightful evening of cinema.

" Just like 2010 when this began, the goal is to provide an entertainment experience that is enjoyable, thought provoking and exciting. The ambition of WIFF was, and continues to be a vehicle to communicate and celebrate that which matters most in filmmaking - the story," as stated by the Co-Founders.

Highlights: contain The Green, a critically acclaimed feature starring, Illeana Douglas, Jason Butler Harner, Cheynne Jackson, Julia Ormond, Bill Sage and Karen Young). The documentary Thank You For Judging from acclaimed Stage/Screen actor Michael Urie of TV's Ugly Betty.

Academy Award Nominated animator Bill Plympton with Guard Dog /Global Jam. Paul Sorvino triumphs in the short and soon to-be full length feature, Lily of the Feast.

WIFF welcomes filmmakers, and strives to deliver their works to the most diverse, sophisticated community of cinephiles: the people of New York City. It lives to create its very own story - one that is just beginning.

The 4-day festival will also feature celebrity and Director driven events, inclusive of post show Q&A.
