In the spirit of the holidays, the producer and cast of SANTA MEETS THE ICE DRAGON: A SYMPHONIC CHRISTMAS TALE are giving an extraordinary gift to New York City schoolchildren:  a special invite to attend a FREE performance of this enchanting new holiday musical adventure, starring Bob McGrath (beloved Bob from Sesame Street),  a 21-foot-tall electronic Ice Dragon, the world-class American Symphony Orchestra (28 pieces), and a fabulous company of dancers.

On Tuesday, December 14, at 12 pm, Santa Meets The Ice Dragon will donate a special noon performance to children in elementary school, their teachers, and their parents.   For more information on the show, visit www.santameetstheicedragon.com.  Theater capacity is 2,800 seats and tickets will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.  To arrange for free tickets, contact the show's Production Office (203-249-6715 or PenneyProd@hotmail.com).

Santa Meets the Ice Dragon is a timeless Christmas tale, situated somewhere between Hans Christian Andersen and Disney, according to one of the rave reviews in Europe last year.  Destined to become an instant classic and annual tradition, the show debuts in NYC this month for a holiday engagement of 25 performances at The Beacon Theatre (Broadway @ 74th St.), from December 10-28.

Bob McGrath--best known as beloved music teacher on Sesame Street since the show's beginning 35 years ago--is cast in the leading role as The Narrator, whose character sings and portrays all of the voices for each scene as it is conveyed by the other characters through music and dance.  It's a brilliant production, a great Christmas story that is going to work for the whole family, says Bob.  There is a lot of humor, a lot of dancing, and the costumes are absolutely extraordinary.  It's like taking your child to the symphony, to a ballet, and a Broadway show, all in one!

The storyline opens with Christmastime, and all the elves are busily preparing for the festive season--until they discover that the wicked Ice Dragon, a despicable creature determined to let cold heartlessness prevail, has blown out the Light of Wishes!   Santa must leave Santaland to search for the one special flame that can reignite this ancient candle, which nourishes peace, hope and goodwill in the hearts of all people.  Without it, Christmas will disappear as well!

Along the way, Santa, his favorite elf, a trusted reindeer, and 12-year-old Max and his friend Sara must team up and face the Ice Dragon. What kind of sacrifices will it take to defeat this ferocious creature and rekindle the Light of Wishes before it is too late--in order to bring back warmth to the world and a happy holiday season to all?
