The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical MEMPHIS launched its national tour Oct. 14, prior to an official opening set for Oct. 16 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN.

The musical, set in the 1950s, centers around an interracial love affair between white radio DJ Huey (Bryan Fenkart) and black singer Felicia (Felicia Boswell).

Directed by Christopher Ashley, the tour cast also features Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime) as Delray, Rhett George (Sweet Charity) as Gator, Drama Desk nominee Julie Johnson (Candide) as Mama, William Parry (Sunday in the Park With George, Passion) as Mr. Simmons and Will Mann, who recently appeared in the Broadway cast of Memphis, repeating his work as Bobby.

Memphis takes place in the smoky halls and underground clubs of the segregated 50s, where a young white DJ named Huey Calhoun fell in love with everything he shouldn't: rock and roll and an electrifying black singer. Memphis is an original story about the cultural revolution that erupted when his vision met her voice, and the music changed forever."
