Review: BABY MASH-UP, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING? Tron Theatre
Baby Mash-Up, What On Earth Are You Doing ran at the Tron Theatre until 15 May

Baby Mash-Up, what on Earth are you doing? is a new play written by Sally Hobson, inspired by her early experiences of the Troubles in Belfast. Directed by Nicholas Bone, it is presented by Stillpoint, a new writing company.
Baby Mash-Up (Claire Lamont) feels as though she is missing something in her life. She has unanswered questions from growing up, and she starts to look back at them. The questions flash up on the stage, and we delve into weird and wonderful scenarios in search of answers. The ensemble cast work well here, dipping in and out as a variety of characters.
It’s a quirky piece of theatre, but it left me with more questions than answers as Baby Mash-Up transports herself to alternate realities via a washing machine. There are some well-delivered monologues but the narrative is so mixed up it is difficult to make sense of them.
Baby Mash-Up, what on Earth are you doing? is a surreal theatrical experience. The programme notes suggest that everyone sees a different version of the play based on their own interpretation of it, and I think it definitely succeeds in its mission, and many people will get something out of it.
