A concert of the new musical, GIRL shakes loose her skin, Monday March 2nd at 7:00 PM. Composed by Imani Uzuri, book by Zakiyyah Alexander, featuring the poetry by Philadelphia Poet Laureate, Sonia Sanchez.
GIRL shakes loose her skin, tells the story of an overqualified black Girl on a 3 city journey to find home.
The cast features REBECCA NAOMI JONES (Big Love, Fortress of Solitude), JAHI KEARSE (Holler if You Hear Me, Fortress of Solitude), MCKENZIE FRYE (Wig Out!), LARRY POWELL (WHILE I YET LIVE), SHELLEY THOMAS (Zanna, Don't), KARMA MAYET JOHNSON, and IMANI UZURI.
With piano accompaniment and co-arrangement by Toru Dodo, under the direction of May Adrales.
