Previews: THEATRE SUMMER CAMP at Ovations Repertory Company
Camp runs June 15-July 30, with auditions in May and June for summer stock
Enrollment is now open for Ovations Dance Academy of Tampa's 2026 Summer Theater Camp, welcoming participants ages 3 and up. A professional touring actor and New York transplant, Ovations founder and artistic director Orlando Peña brought his love of theatre and his beloved New York studio to Tampa in 2021, shaping a home where young performers can train, create, and grow.
Ovations Repertory Company, home of Ovations Dance Academy of Tampa, has officially opened registration for its 2026 Summer Camps, offering families a season filled with creativity, movement, and memorable experiences. With themed day camps for young dancers, full‑scale Summer Stock musicals for rising performers, and training intensives for students eager to strengthen their technique, Ovations is preparing a summer designed to help every child discover new skills and new friends.
Peña shared his excitement for the upcoming season. “Summer at Ovations is a time when kids surprise themselves. They try something new, they find their confidence, and they leave each day with a sense of pride. Watching that happen is one of the best parts of what we do,” he said.
Peña emphasized the environment at the heart of the program. “We build a space where kids feel safe to explore who they are. When they feel supported, they take creative risks that help them grow in ways that stay with them long after camp ends.”
SUMMER CAMPS
Families may choose from half‑day or full‑day camps for ages 3 to 6 and 7 and up. Half‑day camps run from 9:00 to noon for $185. Full‑day camps run from 9:00 to 3:00 for $350.
Princess Camp (June 15–19) invites young dancers into a world of fairytales, character play, and gentle technique. Campers learn ballet and jazz‑inspired choreography set to classic storybook music and create themed crafts that bring the magic home. Daily story sessions and character exploration let children imagine themselves as Tiana, Jasmine, or any hero they choose. A special “Royal Performance” for family and friends concludes the week.
Swiftie Camp (July 6–10) brings a “Bejewleed” week inspired by Musical Icon Taylor Swift. Dancers learn upbeat routines to favorite hits, create and trade friendship bracelets, and enjoy themed crafts and activities celebrating creativity and confidence. Designed for “fearless” dancers ready to take center stage, the week ends with a “Shake It Off Performance” for family and friends.
K‑POP Camp (July 13–17) offers a lively mix of dance, music, and creative projects. Campers learn choreography to popular K‑POP hits, make themed crafts, and enjoy a week centered on teamwork and self‑expression. The theme for the week is Be glowing together, be golden together. A “Golden Performance” for family and friends wraps up this high‑energy experience.
SUMMER STOCK
For students ready for a full musical theater experience, Ovations Repertory Company will present two Summer Stock productions. Peña noted the impact these programs often have on young performers. “There is something special about watching a cast come together. They learn discipline, teamwork, and trust, and by opening night they feel like a family.”

Orlando also shared what he hopes families take away from the experience. “Our camps are designed to be welcoming and inspiring for every child. Whether they love to dance, sing, act, or simply try something new, we want them to feel excited to walk through the door each day.”
