The Huntington is currently presenting Oedipus el Rey by Luis Alfaro, directed by Artistic Director Loretta Greco. The production will run through June 7, 2026, in an intimate thrust configuration at the Calderwood Pavilion’s Roberts Theatre. Get a first look at production photos!
The staging reunites Greco and Alfaro approximately 16 years after their collaboration on the play’s original world premiere at the Magic Theatre. The production also marks a return of Alfaro’s work to Boston, where it has not been seen since earlier projects with The Theater Offensive and the OutWrite Conference in the 1990s.
The cast includes Juan Arturo as Oedipus, Gabe Martínez as Laius, Melisa Soledad Pereyra as Jocasta and Esfinge, Jaime José Hernández as Creon, Victor Almanzar as Tiresias, and Javier David as El Sobador.
