Itzhak Perlman, the reigning virtuoso of the violin, took a trip to Anatevka last night when he attended the Off-Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof, which is performed entirely in Yiddish. An Israeli-American who was born in Tel-Aviv, Perlman has frequently played the John Williams arrangement of "Excerpts from Fiddler on the Roof" in his concerts.

One of the only household names in classical music today, Itzhak Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry but also to his irrepressible joy of music-making and communicating with audiences.

Having performed with every major orchestra and at venerable concert halls around the globe, Perlman was granted a Kennedy Center Honor in 2003 by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in celebration of his distinguished achievements and contributions to the cultural and educational life of the United States.

The critically-acclaimed National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish is currently playing a limited engagement through June 30, 2019 at Stage 42. Directed by Academy Award-and-Tony Award winner Joel Grey, this Yiddish language production of Fiddler - which is accompanied with English and Russian supertitles was presented by NYTF at the Museum of Jewish Heritage and extended and sold out four times following its premiere there on July 4, 2018, running through December 30, 2018.
