Nilaja Sun's hit solo play No Child...began performances at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street at
7th Ave.) on July 8th for a July 16th opening. It will play an
open-ended run.The show transferred from an earlier hit
Off-Broadway run at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre, where it ran from
May 10th through June 18th. "No Child... is a tour-de-force look into the New York City Public Education system by the acclaimed teaching-artist and solo-performer, Ms. Sun, who transforms into the teachers, students, parents, administrators, janitors, and security guards who inhabit our public schools every day and are shaping
the future of America," state earlier press notes for the show, which
was presented by Epic Theatre Center. Hal Brooks directs.Sun's New York credits include Einstein's Gift, Time and The Conways (Epic Theatre Center), The Cook (Intar), The Adventures of Barrio Grrrl! (Summer Play Festival), and "Law and Order- SVU." As a solo performer, her credits include Blues for a Gray Sun, La Nubia Latina, Black and Blue, Insufficient Fare, Due to the Tragic Events of..., and Mixtures.
