John Randolph Hearst hosted a poolside cocktail party to support Ellen Adler and her son Tom Oppenheim, President and Artistic Director of Stella Adler Studio of Acting, upon the announcement of the upcoming 2nd Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts.
At the event were Bay Street Theatre co-founder Sybil Christopher, Tony award winner Joanna Gleason, artists Julie Keyes, Howard Kanovitz and Paul Davis with his wife Myrna, Bob Roberts and Lauren Day, British film director Anthony Harvey, playwright Joe Pintauro, Kitty Loving, Elizabeth Fasolino, Rusty Unger, Steve Ernst, Bill Fuhs, Jacquelin Murphy-Stahl, Harris Yulin and wife Kristen Lowman, Jamie DeRoy, Debra & Greg Wasser and Studio board member Donna Soloway.
The Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, Friday, September 14 through Monday, September 17, 2007, will be four days of theater, poetry readings, concerts, and symposia.
"The theme of all events of the Festival, Art and Social Activism, was conceived to be a teaching tool for young actors, to inspire them to understand the deeper mission of the artist. The theme was also designed to draw attention to the Studio's own feeling of social obligation. Proceeds from this event will support the Stella Adler Outreach Division, providing free year long actor training to low income inner city youth," state press notes.
The Stella Adler Studio of Acting is located at 31 West 27th Street. Invitations to the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts are available by calling 212-689-0087.
