On September 15th, the New York Musical Theatre Festival offered its own spin on the popular reality talent show with "NYMF Broadway Idol" at New World Stages.

Performers--who were chosen after an open call on September 11th--each sang a Broadway song of their choice. Performances were critiqued by a panel of celebrity judges that included: Marc Shaiman, Felicia Finley, Kevin Cahoon, the cast of [title of show], and host Seth Rudetsky.

Three contestants were eliminated: Saum, Terry, and Jeff. The remaining six will perform again this Friday night at New World Stages. Of those six, three will be eliminated and the final three will perform the next Friday, September 22nd. Next week's song theme is "Anyone Can Idol," in which the contestants will sing one Sondheim song of their choice. The winner will be crowned at the third and final round on September 29th. The winner will be featured exclusively in a concert at Ars Nova to be produced by NYMF.
