ONCE UPON THE BRONX to Play Manhattan Repertory Theater, 6/25-26
By: Tyler Peterson
Can a Mobius strip and a boy named Matzoh reunite two childhood sweethearts from the Bronx? This irresistibly funny story set to a ravishing score tells a tale that is contemporary yet nostalgic.
The back story is about a meeting in Woodstock between Carol Kahn, a quirky playwright, who had a piano that needed tuning and Richard Raderman, a bearded piano tuner who is also a jazz composer-a meet-cute Rom-Com of its own, kind of like When Hairy Met Silly.
This time-capsule romp will appeal to everyone from boomers to Millennials. Starting from its humble roots in an off-off Broadway house, it isdestined to become "The Fantasticks" of the twenty-first Century. Opening June 25th at the Manhattan Repertory Theatre.
