New Diorama Season Announce Two Week Takeover Of VAULT Festival 2019

This year, New Diorama Theatre and VAULT Festival, two of the most exciting supporters of new theatre in the UK, are joining forces to showcase some of the country's most thrilling theatre companies.

New Diorama have curated the very best theatre shows from their supported ensembles, and programmed them together for the first time, to create an unmissable season of new work - to be presented at VAULT Festival 2019.

David Byrne, Artistic and Executive Director of New Diorama says,

'Joining forces with VAULT Festival gives NDT's supported companies a direct line into the biggest theatre festival in London. Following our successful first year of the NDT/Underbelly Untapped Award in Edinburgh, this new partnership felt like a natural next step - ensuring New Diorama is presenting work wherever there are large, new audiences, and exciting opportunities to be seized. The shows in this line-up represent some of the best, new companies NDT has recently championed. I hope this new partnership with VAULT will be long and fruitful!'

The NDT/VAULT Takeover begins with a week of hit shows, presented back-to-back:

Co-produced by 2017 Hull City of Culture, written by Olivier Award-winner Jon Brittain and half of cabaret duo Freaky and Manish, we present Silent Uproar's A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Super Sad). This Fringe First award-winning musical is a whirlwind of comedy, songs and glitter about how it's OK not to be OK.

They stormed the Edinburgh Fringe, won the Underbelly Untapped Award and The Stage Award in 2018, and now they're going to be playing to their biggest audiences yet! Nouveau Riche's sell-out hit Queens of Sheba is four Black Woman sharing their explosive true stories of misogynoir, music, nights out and, of course, (white) men.

The wait is over! Multi-award-winning comedy troupe Kill The Beast are finally brining their 1970s horror movie-set, comedy to London for an extended run. Director's Cut welcomes you to the worst film never made. Thankfully there's only one scene left to shoot...

And, for two nights only, the mighty Pretend Men return from touring the world to present their hit comedy blockbuster Police Cops: an hour of action-packed, adrenaline fuelled physical comedy, cinematic style (feat. uncompromising facial hair).

Headlining the NDT/VAULT take-over, is The Faction's unmissable adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley, breathing fresh life into Patricia Highsmith's extraordinary psychological thriller on ambition, escapism, and murder - as New Yorker Tom Ripley cons and murders his way across 1950s Italy.
