Museum at Eldridge Street Hosts An Open House 10/10

By: Oct. 08, 2010

On Sunday, October 10 Museum at Eldridge Street hosts an open House from 11am to 4pm
Concert at 4:30pm. This Sunday, October 10 marks the first day our beautiful new stained-glass window created by artist Kiki Smith and architect Deborah Gans will be open to the public.

According to the The New York Times, the weather is supposed to be "sunny and delightful," so we hope you will join us for a host of celebratory activities that include museum tours, exhibits, hands-on demonstrations and a conversation with production team that worked on the new window. To cap off the day we will have a concert with Eve Sicular's Isle of Klezbos, who have prepared a repertoire of wildly imaginative klezmer music to fete the new window.

The Open House from 11am to 4pm is free. Tickets for the concert are $20 adults and $15 for students, seniors and children.

The Museum at Eldridge Street, based in the National Historic Landmark Eldridge Street Synagogue, presents the culture, history and traditions of the great wave of Jewish immigrants to the Lower East Side drawing parallels with the diverse cultural communities that have settled in America. Tours, exhibits, and public and educational programs tell the story of the generations that carried religious and communal customs to a new country and celebrate America's broad cultural traditions.
