Moscow Cats Theatre, the hit Russian show that "features non-stop action by a troop of talented felines" will receive its U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers St.), where it will run (on a weekends-only schedule) from September 16th until October 30th, 2005.

According to production notes, the show is "the only entertainment of its kind in the world," with the cats "performing original and astounding acrobatic feats, integrated into a non-verbal, colorful and fun-filled family show...Created almost 30 years ago by renowned circus performer Yuri Kuklachev, Moscow Cats Theatre has grown into one of the most popular weekend outings for Moscow kids and adults, selling out every performance."  According to Kuklachev, who is assisted by his son Dmitri (also the show's co-creator), the cats walk tightropes, balance balls on their noses, jump from great heights and navigate complex mazes.  Both Kuklachevs also appear in the show, in addition to Yelena Kuklacheva, Petr Gerasimov, Inga Gerasimova, Lioudmila Smirnova, Alexander Gerasimov, Vasiliy Zhuravlev, 20 cats, 2 dots and 8 clowns.

Kuklachev is something of a national institution, having performed in over 80 countries and having received many prestigious international awards and accolades, including The People's Artist in Russia, Honorary Member of the American Clown Association, the Silver Clown Award in Monte Carlo, the Golden Clown Crown in Canada, the Golden Oscar in Japan, a San Marino postage stamp, and in France, a chapter in their national grammar book titled "Lessons of Kindness".

Moscow Cats Theatre runs on Fridays at 8PM, and Saturdays and Sundays at 12PM and 3PM.  For tickets, which are $49.50, call Ticketmaster 212-307-7171 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
